A Fun Town Hall at Top Golf with NJVC

On April 27, the NJVC team members from the O’Fallon and St. Louis offices got together for a Town Hall and a little fun.

The teams got together at the Top Golf Chesterfield location in St. Louis, MO. It was a wonderful time as many colleagues met face to face for the first time! The teams got together in the conference rooms on-site to hear company updates, plans and goals for NJVC, and have some of their questions answered.

After the Town Hall, the employees went into the bays for some team-building fun! The NJVC employees were able to relax, eat, and play some of the games, all while spending quality time with their fellow coworkers. The event was a great time for all of those involved, and they’re looking forward to the next one!

Before joining NJVC, David worked for BAE Systems for 23 years in several management positions, beginning in San Diego and moving to Virginia in 1995 to support a large NGA contract. He started with NJVC in 2008 as the Director of Travel and Deployment and established many travel and deployment policies still in use today. Later, his responsibilities grew when he became the Director of Support Services. In this position, he was responsible for NJVC’s facilities and continuity of operations and safety. More recently, he became the NJVC VP of Operations in May 2020 then Interim GM in February 2021.

“I am proud to take on this new role at NJVC. I am passionate about guiding our company and employees to a very bright future. In this next fiscal year, we will identify and foster new opportunities and more Prime contracts by leveraging all of our hard-working employees’ talents. NJVC has always ensured our customers’ mission success, and that is one thing that will never change,” said Steiner.

As a native to Philadelphia, he can be found in the fall rooting for his favorite football team and looks forward to at least one weekend trip to a game at the Linc to join his other calm, quiet, well-behaved fans at an Eagles game. His favorite culinary experiences in Philly are the hoagies and cheesesteaks. In his spare time, David loves to cook and travel with his wife.

We are thrilled about the leadership and direction Steiner will bring as President of NJVC. Steiner has big plans for the company and its employees, and we look forward to NJVC’s future.

Chenega MIOS Wins 2021 Top Workplaces USA Award

Chenega MIOS is proud to announce it has earned the 2021 Top Workplaces USA award, issued by Energage, a purpose-driven organization that develops solutions to build and brand Top Workplaces. This is the inaugural year for Top Workplaces USA, built on the program’s 14-year history surveying more than 20 million employees across 54 markets for regional Top Workplaces awards.

Chenega MIOS is proud to be recognized as a 2021 Top Workplaces USA winner. This is a testament to the quality and dedication of our employees, the leadership of Chenega, and the commitment we all make to being a socially responsible member of our community. If not for the support of our Executive Committee leadership, our Board of Directors, our shareholders, and most importantly, our employees, this honor could not have been made possible. It is with gratitude and humility that we accept this honor.
-MIOS president, John “JC” Campagna

Top Workplaces USA offers national recognition for large organizations, those with more than 150 employees, and those that may have operations in multiple markets. Several thousand organizations from across the country were invited, and more than 1,100 participated in the Top Workplaces USA survey. Winners of the Top Workplaces USA list are chosen based solely on employee feedback gathered through an employee engagement survey issued by Energage. Results are calculated by comparing the survey’s research-based statements, including 15 Culture Drivers that are proven to predict high performance against industry benchmarks.

“During this very challenging time, Top Workplaces has proven to be a beacon of light for organizations, as well as a sign of resiliency and strong business performance,” said Eric Rubino, Energage CEO. “When you give your employees a voice, you come together to navigate challenges and shape your path forward. Top Workplaces draw on real-time insights into what works best for their organization, so they can make informed decisions that have a positive impact on their people and their business.”

Chenega MIOS and NJVC Participats in Wreaths Across America

Chenega MIOS and NJVC are participating in Northern Virginia Veterans Association’s Wreaths Across America (WAA). MIOS is sponsoring wreaths to be laid at veteran’s graves at Quantico National Cemetery. On December 17, a group of Chenega MIOS employees and some of their family members will travel to Quantico National Cemetery to help lay wreaths.

This annual tradition takes place every year across the country to remember and honor the fallen and those who served our country.

It started in 1992, when Worcester Wreath found themselves with a surplus of wreaths nearing the end of the holiday season. Morrill Worcester, the owner of Worcester Wreath Company, realized he had an opportunity to honor our country’s veterans. Arrangements were made for the wreaths to be placed at Arlington in one of the older sections of the cemetery that had been receiving fewer visitors with each passing year.

As plans were underway, a number of other individuals and organizations stepped up to help. The annual tribute went on quietly for several years, until 2005, when a photo of the stones at Arlington, adorned with wreaths and covered in snow, circulated the internet. Suddenly, the project received national attention. Thousands of requests poured in from all over the country from people wanting to help with Arlington, to emulate the Arlington project at their National and State cemeteries, or to simply share their stories and thank Morrill Worcester for honoring our nation’s heroes.

In 2006, with the help of the Civil Air Patrol and other civic organizations, simultaneous wreath-laying ceremonies were held at over 150 locations around the country.

In 2007, the Worcester family, veterans, and other groups and individuals who had helped with their annual veterans’ wreath ceremony in Arlington formed WAA to continue and expand this effort to support other groups around the country who wanted to do the same. The group’s mission is simple: remember the fallen, honor those who serve, and teach our children the value of freedom.

The wreath-laying is still held annually, on the second or third Saturday of December. You can learn more about Wreaths Across America here.

If you are interested in volunteering or donating to the Northern Virginia Veterans Association for WAA you can learn more here.
