CHANTILLY, Va., April 4, 2013 — NJVC, an information technology (IT) solutions provider headquartered in northern Virginia, announces that Kevin L. Jackson, vice president and general manager, cloud services, will contribute his cloud computing expertise to “Demystifying PaaS for Government,” a free FedPlatform Webinar panel on the afternoon of April 16.
The Office of the Federal Chief Information Officer suggests that shared platforms will improve efficiencies by the ability to build a software application once, and then offer it for use to a variety of departments and agencies. With the high costs of software development, the federal government can potentially save billions of dollars by adopting platform as a service and other cloud technologies. However, PaaS is still widely misunderstood, and the government is slow to adopt technologies that it does not fully grasp. During this Webinar, public and private sector thought leaders will provide easy-to-digest definitions and other critical information on PaaS—specific to the federal government audience.
Jackson will provide insight on the two types of PaaS—the traditional deployment model and the next-generation application development and deployment model. The latter model will have revolutionary and widespread impact on how software will be developed in the future, according to Jackson. NJVC is using Cloudcuity AppDeployer—a PaaS built under this model that allows developers to quickly create and publish mission-critical software applications on the cloud exceedingly quickly—to build a robust disaster management system to help international teams better coordinate response activities during crisis situations.
