Vienna, Va., Oct. 3, 2012 – NJVC, an information technology solutions provider headquartered in Northern Virginia, earned the prestigious gold status in the Golden Bridge Awards for IT Project of the Year. NJVC was honored for a massive federal agency IT mission transition initiative.
In response to a federal directive to close excess U.S. military installations, an NJVC customer was required to consolidate operations and relocate operations to a new building in the Washington metropolitan area. An NJVC team, led by Peter Jeanmougin, vice president and chief architect, led efforts to:
- Move the workforce’s IT assets
- Migrate and modernize systems/data from all sites to targeted data centers
- Optimize hardware/software baselines
- Decommission IT equipment
- Retire IT systems
- Close multiple buildings
- Manage multiple vendors/contractors
Overall project results were:
- Migration of 28 PB of data
- Relocation of more than 8,000 employees
- Decommissioned 41,076 pieces of equipment
- Realized $110 million in savings in two years
The project was executed without interruption to the agency’s mission—critical to national security—and with zero IT downtime.
